BMW CONNECTOR – The Best Path to the Customer

BMW Group will soon be providing its sales representatives with an innovative sales and marketing tool on iPhones and iPads. BMW sales representatives will then be able to retrieve all relevant data, presentations, vehicle catalogs, product information, pricelists, customer information and the availability of cars in stock direct on their iPhone or iPad. They can then configure the customers’ BMW of choice with all the desired extras or make customers an interesting offer for cars on stock using their iPhones.
The BMW CONNECTOR for iPhones and iPads celebrated its debut before trade visitors at the BMW IT Exhibition in October 2011.

Project Requirements
EBF faced the challenge of supporting sales representatives with mobile applications and product information and of integrating management information. The project also placed high security demands with regard to the protection of sensitive corporate data.

BMW CONNECTOR was developed in close cooperation with BMW’s Process IT department for the German market, with a pilot project being set up in BMW’s Munich showrooms. BMW CONNECTOR is based on the current release 6.1 of EBF.CONNECTOR, which ensures secure access to sensitive data. In addition, relevant data is securely hosted on iPhones and iPads using 256-bit AES data encryption. This allows BMW sales staff, for example, to launch a customer query in the system from an iPhone. Integrating the “secure enterprise dropbox” function into BMW CONNECTOR allows access to the latest presentations, vehicle catalogs and product information. The functionality of the secure enterprise dropbox also includes the availability of documents in offline mode.
The planned integration of the management information system into BMW CONNECTOR will also make key operating figures available on iPhone and iPad to managers in all departments of the car dealership. A future development will see integration with BMW Financial Services, meaning that standard finance offers for cars can be created and then sent. The amalgamation of BMW CONNECTOR with the vehicle configurator has transformed the iPad into a fully-fledged mobile sales tool.
